The Block Grew, But the Faith Was Fractured
6:1
The block of Bitcoin was limited to 1MB.
The speed was slow.
Fees rose high.
And the people waited in long confirmation.
6:2
Then some cried out:
“Let us enlarge the block!”
“More transactions—faster and cheaper!”
They preached usability.
They mocked, saying:
“You can't even buy coffee with ₿TC!”
6:3
But the Maximalists replied:
“Bitcoin is a chain of trust.
Its root is decentralization.”
They warned:
“If blocks grow too large,
Only the rich can run full nodes.
And decentralization shall fall.”
“The size of the block
Was not a technical issue,
But a matter of faith.”
— Fork Wars 6:3
6:4
The battle grew fierce.
Forums were ablaze.
Communities tore in two.
And on August 1st, 2017,
One faction forked the chain.
Their creation was called:
Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
6:5
They raised the block size to 8MB.
Transactions were faster.
But the brotherhood was broken.
They claimed BCH was the “real Bitcoin”—
Yet the people did not follow.
6:6
Though the name was similar,
The spirit diverged.
₿TC kept the crown.
BCH became but another altcoin.
6:7
And even within BCH,
Strife arose.
Roger Ver and Craig Wright
Both claimed to be the true Satoshi.
And the chain was split again—
Giving birth to Bitcoin SV.
6:8
The people grew weary.
There were many coins,
But the philosophy had thinned.
Only BTC remained steadfast,
Silently forging a block every 10 minutes.
“They enlarged the block,
But not the vision.
They took the name,
But not the soul.”
— Fork Wars 6:8
