BTC Declaration

Satire and commentary: names and likenesses are used for parody, and nothing here is a statement of fact about real people. Sourced facts are in the sections below.

I am no longer just an investor.
I am a recorder.
A messenger.

In the spirit of Satoshi,
I shall transmit the gospel—
From my wallet to the world.

Upon this block,
I engrave my philosophy.
I leave it for my descendants.

Faith begins with one satoshi.

“You take the blue coin… you stay in the fiat world.

You take the orange coin… and I show you how deep the blockchain goes.”

Welcome to the Bitrix.

I’ll teach you how to hodl, Neo.

Not with fear, but with conviction.

In plain words: what this means

The scripture is satire, and part of it is a joke on a 1999 movie. Here is what is real underneath it. Checked on October 18, 2026.

The movie joke

The "blue coin or orange coin" speech copies the blue pill and red pill scene from *The Matrix* (1999). In the film you pick between staying comfortable and seeing how deep things go. Here the pill becomes a coin, and orange is Bitcoin's color. It is a parody, not a quote from anyone at Bitcoin.

"Hodl" is a real typo with a real date

"Hodl" sounds like old Bitcoin scripture, but it is a typo. On December 18, 2013 a forum user called GameKyuubi started a thread titled "I AM HODLING" on the Bitcointalk forum. His first line admits he typed the title twice because the first try was wrong (Bitcointalk thread). People later turned it into "Hold On for Dear Life", but that is a joke explanation added afterward. The word came first.

"No trust, just verify" is a real design idea

Bitcoin software called a full node checks every transaction and block itself. The Bitcoin.org page says: "A full node is a program that fully validates transactions and blocks." It also says Bitcoin's "trustless model works best if you are connected to a handful of nodes," and warns that if too few people run nodes, they "will have to use centralized services instead" (Bitcoin.org: Running a full node). So the slogan is a fair short version: you check the rules with your own computer instead of taking someone's word.

What the poem does not say

The chapter talks about conviction and "no fear." Nothing in it tells you how much to buy, when to sell, or whether the price will rise. Bitcoin's price can fall a lot, and holding it is not a plan on its own. We do not give price predictions or investment advice on this site.
